YOUR FASHION-NESS: HOW YOU WANT THE WORLD TO SEE YOU

Your fashion style has many different incarnations, and especially now because of the situation in the world and the pandemic. Just because you are not going to the MET gala, or your favorite restaurant, theater, or parties, does not mean that you have to leave fashion behind and have a sweat pant uniform.

Since we are living in unprecedented times, and there is not much normal going on right now, we have to adjust to what is real for the lives we are living right now. So especially if you are able to be shopping for pieces to add to your wardrobe, they must make sense, or be something you need or are craving. No need to empty your wardrobe each season or year, because its more like adding to what you have, if you can, and creating whats fun for you.

You can still want to feel good just for yourself and be creative, even if you are just taking a walk around the block or going to the grocery store. It is still all about being true to yourself, and about how you want to feel everyday that you get up and show up in the world. Fashion is all about living in any given moment.

If you are on zoom, or are going to an actual job, or staying home away from the world, you can still dive into your closet and create something that you feel inspirational in to help make it through your day and keeping with your personality that still exists. The designers are still doing 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, so you have a lot to choose from, and creating fun in a mix of all of these eras is liberating. Its creating YOU that is the point of the exercise.

We did not all fade away once March was upon us, and even though we were, and some are still in quarantine, the best medicine for looking at yourself in the mirror, is looking at ourselves as we would be at any other time. I understand that you may not have any inspiration to dress in anything other than comfort, especially if you have a family and are taking care of your children, but a little fun can go a long way, especially if your children can see a creative YOU.

I am a 25 year veteran stylist coming from the entertainment and advertising world. I constantly create and re-create looks in my head, and then make them real by playing with them and seeing what I am feeling every day.

You can do the same thing, if you are not already. If shopping is an option for you, you can search the net and add new pieces to your wardrobe, and then play around with styling them. If you cannot shop, and feeling good in your wardrobe is important to you, then take a few minutes out of each morning, and wear something in a fun new way, and it will be a mood changer for you.

It’s so important right now for everyone, men and women, to be up-lifted, and this can all begin with our fashion, which elevates how we feel about ourselves and the day ahead of us. Something simple with a little twist can brighten up how we make it through our lives, until we have full control over our everyday situation again in the future.

Until then, just an up-beat thought to an otherwise potentially similar day in our lives.
